Titz N Glitz

I have been VERY busy the past couple weeks with performances so I haven't been able to keep up with this as much as I would like. Hopefully this will make up for it.

Last Friday I performed at Titz N Glitz across the harbour at the Alderney Landing Theatre. It is a fundraiser for Breast Cancer, and something I am proud to be part of. This is an annual event that Atlantic Cirque has been performing at for almost 5 years now. I actually performed there doing Aerial Silk as one of my first performances ever. This event is probably one of the funnest gigs that I get to do. We dress get to dress up and so does the audience! The best part was that this year the theme was RETRO DANCE.

Most years it has been either Contortion or Aerial Silk, but for this year we did something a little different. Instead of doing a "performance" we were perched on top of the Triple Trapeze and served Champagne up-side down! Now, if you think that sounds a little difficult then you're quite right. It was a very strange thing to practice for, but in the end it worked out much better than expected!

Pictured above is my friend Sophie Fong who performed with me along with Sara Greenberg to the left and myself up top.

Aside from Atlantic Cirque there were many other gorgeous performances through out the night. Monique Ryan and Mahari Tribal performed some great performances including a belly dance version of Thriller by Michael Jackson. Scarlett Sparks also heated up the room making fiery trails across her exposed skin and even blowing a fire ball or two.

Suzanne Bechard, who is definitely one of the sexiest, sparkliest, sweetest pole kittens i've ever ever had the pleasure to meet, performed last. Suzanne started taking classes from me last year and she has an aura about her that makes her the brightest light in the room. She is also the owner of Ready To Rumba and will whip your tush into shape like nobody else. I've been dying to see her perform and so I knew that I was in for a treat when I found out she was performing with me this year. You can check out the video of her performance here.

Everyone had such a blast doing this, I can hardly wait for next year!

Hello!

Since I have suddenly started doing so many new and exciting things in my life,  I decided to make a blog about it! Maybe I should introduce myself:

My name is Caitlan Anthony and I am currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I am in my second year taking the Costume Studies program at Dalhousie University. I am also Head Coach and Troupe Coordinator at Atlantic Cirque in Dartmouth. We teach all ages and levels many different things such as Juggling, Trampoline, Spinning Plates, Hula Hoop, Trapeze, Aerial Silk, Acrobatics, and too many other things to list. I also perform professionally with Atlantic Cirque's performance troupe, Cirque Siana, which has been keeping my quite busy lately! Most of the time when I am performing, I specialize in Contortion, Cerceau, Hand to Hand acrobatics or Aerial Silks. If you want to check out some of my contortion and hand balancing tricks, then you can check out my youtube channel. I will try to keep this updated as much as possible with upcoming show dates for the public.

While I'm on the topic of shows, I am performing at three different events this week multiple times. The first one is a private wedding, which can be pretty fun,  where I will be performing my contortion act. The last wedding I performed at was a year or two ago at the Cunard Center. It was a massive Lebanese extravaganza where I performed a duo Aerial Silk act with my friend and fellow performer Maddy Higgins. It was definitely a fun event, and everything so well planned out that our costumes even matched the wedding cake!!

On Friday I will be performing at Titz N Glitz a Breast Cancer Fundraiser. Definitely one of the funnest events that I do. It is a womans only event where everyone dresses up in fun costumes to do with boobies! If you are a woman then you should definitely get tickets before it's sold out.
I'm especially excited to perform this year because I won't be doing my regular performance. I will actually be bar-tending and serving champagne with two other girls from the circus school while hanging from a triple trapeze. My friend Monique Ryan and her Mahari tribal belly dance group will also be performing at the event. They're smokin' hot so you should definitely come check them out as well.

Lastly I will also be performing "Redemption of the Dark Side" as part of Nocturne again this year which is a night of art displayed in many different way around the city. We'll be putting on performances every 15 minutes from 6pm-12pm at Alderney Landing Theatre in Dartmouth which you can access via the ferry terminal. Many performers from Atlantic Cirque and Serpentine Circus will be coming together on this night to perform some really spectacular acts. Acts throughout the night include Aerial Silks, Cerceau (pictured below), Belly Dance, Acrobats, Jugglers as well as Fire performances. And the best part? It's FREE. For specific details and scheduling you can check out the facebook event or check out the circus school's website

Hope to see you in the audience!
